BMX Races...

A couple weekends every winter at the South Jordan Equestrian Center they build a BMX track and have races. I've visited a few times, but never raced. It's been at least 10 years since I raced, but for some reason last weekend I decided it was time to give it another try. Beth and Raleigh came along (Issac went to church). We had all been to the track a few weeks before just to see if the boys would like it. They loved it and Raleigh was pretty bummed we didn't sign him up to race. So this weekend was our chance. We got all signed up, made a few practice laps, and even bought Raleigh a number plate...

If you have never been to a BMX race before, it's a pretty amazing event. Most of the riders are from age 5 to 12. So imagine 100+ kids that all have this sequence of events wired. Then there are the few like me who haven't done it in a while, or ever, who are running around crazy trying to figure out what the hell to do (see above for the not so bright look on my face). Well, despite all the madness, both Raleigh and I made all our races. Raleigh's bike is not race specific one bit, but he managed to tough it out and make it to the final 8 out of 14 or so racers. In the final, right out of the gate he tangled up with another racer and crashed. He did get a trophy for making it to the main event though...
